How do packaging companies respond to dynamic market challenges, such as fierce competition, fast-changing customer requirements, volatile raw materials prices, and the pressures of entering new markets? Leading companies proactively adapt business processes and the underlying software architecture that powers them in order to meet the demands of this dynamic market environment.

In order to study manufacturing opportunities presented by these market challenges, Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation (SSCC) asked Kiwiplan to help set up a company-specific user group meeting during 4th quarter 2005. Since SSCC standardizes on Kiwiplan Manufacturing Application Systems, the natural focus of the meeting was on ways to maximize their investment and use of the products. SSCC set the agenda and drove the meeting while Kiwiplan specialists facilitated and hosted the meeting at Kiwiplan headquarters.

During the three-day conference, the SSCC team worked together with Kiwiplan specialists to discover potential improvements on ways to manage their business and manufacturing processes with maximum efficiently and flexibility. They rethought the manufacturing processes to accommodate a standardized solution approach. Barbara Atchison, Container Division System Support at SSCC, comments: “The days were full, the outcome meaningful, and the benefits certain. We’ve started implementing what we learned, and it has truly made a difference. We look forward to holding additional user group conferences in the future.”
